Setting up a real website on lisa or bart (depending on your class)

2. In your home directory make a new directory called public_html  (this is case sensitive)
3. Place any html files you want into this directory
4. Check your website by going to:
    http://lisa.stuy.edu/~username   OR    http://bart.stuy.edu/~username

The url should look like this:     http://lisa.stuy.edu/~tom.thumb

New content as of Monday:

Required but not super fun tags you need to know:
<!doctype html>
How to comment:
<!--  Anything inside here will be ignored -->

Basic Tables:
<tr></tr>   (table row)
<td></td> (table data)

<th>  (table header replaces a row)
 (subscripts)
 (superscripts)

  • Make a webpage that uses all of the tags you learned in class so far. This is just to make sure you can use all of the basic HTML we learned so far.
  • Put the webpage in your public_html directory
  • rename the file  index.html
  • go to the website to test it out.

Research how to create a hyperlink, image, and bulletpoints. Test out your ability by making an html file with a link, image, and some text with a list of bullet point'ed text. You will need this knowledge tomorrow!
