  1. . From the NetLogo drop-down menus, select:
    • File -> Models Library -> Sample Models -> Biology -> Ants
  2. Without adjusting sliders, click Setup, then Go.
  3. Watch. Note anything notable. Note Questions's that arise.
  4. When only one big blob remains, click the Go button again.
  5. Repeat steps 2-4 until you can put forth a reasonable answer to this question.
    • What simple rules is each ant following? Try to get down to 2-3 rules.
  6.  In a plaintext file, record these rules, and indicate whether any take precedence over others.
  7. Read the info tab.
  8. Return to the Interface tab and run the model as many times as you like, with varying slider values.
  9.  Jot down further thoughts in your plaintext file:
    1. How accurate were your guesses at the rules?
    2. Are there any peculiar/noteworthy behaviors observed at particular slider settings?
    3. Broader implications? Relevance of this model to our course?
    4. Anything particularly cool you noticed.
